Venerdì 21 giugno si è svolta a Ca’ Giustinian la Cerimonia di consegna dei Leoni per la Biennale Danza 2019.
Il performer, coreografo e regista Alessandro Sciarroni ha ricevuto il Leone d’Oro alla carriera con la seguente motivazione: “Alessandro Sciarroni è un coreografo italiano che crea in risonanza con l’arte della performance. È il direttore d’orchestra dei danzatori e di tutti coloro che, provenienti da diverse discipline, invita a partecipare ai suoi progetti. Costruisce dei concentrati di vita al limite dell’ossessione disponendoli attorno a eventi scelti delle nostre vite fragili e ordinarie. Mette in scena i nostri corpi quotidiani in uno spazio che amplifica l’insistenza a trovare la falla che ci addolcirà e solleverà”.
In serata Sciarroni presenta gli spettacoli Your Girl e Augusto al Teatro alle Tese, ore 21.00, in apertura del 13. Festival Internazionale di Danza Contemporanea.
Il Leone d’Argento di questa edizione è stato assegnato agli artisti francesi Théo Mercier e Steven Michel con la seguente motivazione “Steven Michel e Théo Mercier sono due giovani artisti impegnati il cui percorso andrà osservato con attenzione. Fanno parte di una generazione di creatori che amano collaborare con altri e spaziare di progetto in progetto. Entrambi creano messe in scena coreografiche nelle quali esplorano la materia delle nostre culture, del nostro spazio e del nostro tempo. I corpi diventano oggetti e gli oggetti vanno verso un pensiero incarnato, materiale e violento. Questi ‘coreografi-artisti plastici’ ci offrono strane feste, dove il vero del falso e il falso del vero catalizzano paesaggi riflessivi, privi di natura, un nuovo, crudo incanto”.
Alle Tese dei Soppalchi, ore 19.00, Mercier e Michel presentano lo spettacolo Affordable Solution for Better Living.
Come ha ricordato il Presidente Paolo Baratta nel corso della Cerimonia di premiazione, “la Danza è stata introdotta ufficialmente quale settore autonomo fra le discipline della Biennale di Venezia nel 1998 e come tale debuttò nel 1999, esattamente vent’anni fa. Lo ricordo con soddisfazione e piacere, e così mentre ringrazio tutti di cuore, vi invito a brindare con noi a questo compleanno.”
Il Festival, diretto da Marie Chouinard, prosegue con appuntamenti giornalieri fino a domenica 30 giugno.
The Awards Ceremony for the Biennale Danza 2019 took place on Friday 21 June at Ca’ Giustinian, Venice.
The performer, choreographer and director Alessandro Sciarroni was presented with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement according to this motivation: “Alessandro Sciarroni is an Italian choreographer who creates in resonance with performance art. He is the conductor of the dancers and all of those whom, trained in different disciplines, he invites to participate in his projects. He builds concentrates of life at the limits of obsession, organizing them around events chosen from our fragile and ordinary lives. He puts our everyday bodies on stage in a space that amplifies insistence to find the fault that will soften and relieve us”.
In the evening Sciarroni is to present two shows, Your Girl and Augusto at the Teatro alle Tese, 9 pm, for the opening of the 13th International Festival of Contemporary Dance.
The Silver Lion of this edition was awarded to French artists Théo Mercier and Steven Michel according to this motivation: “Steven Michel and Théo Mercier are two committed young artists whose career we should pay great attention to. They come from a generation of creators who love to collaborate with others and move from project to project. Both create choreographic mise-en-scènes in which they explore the material of our culture, our space and our time. The bodies become objects and the objects move towards embodied, material, violent thought. These “plastic choreographer-artists” offer us strange parties, where the truth of falsity and the falsity of truth trigger thoughtful landscapes, devoid of nature, a new, crude, enchantment”.
Mercier and Michel are to present their show Affordable Solution for Better Living at the Tese dei Soppalchi, 7 pm.
During the Awards Ceremony, President Paolo Baratta recalled that “Dance was officially introduced as an independent department in 1998 and as such made its debut in 1999, exactly twenty years ago. I mention this with great pleasure and satisfaction, and thus as I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart, I invite you to celebrate this anniversary with us”.
The Festival is directed by Marie Chouinard and will continue featuring daily events until Sunday 30 June.
BIENNALE TEATRO 2019: DRAMMATURGIE
Il 47. Festival Internazionale del Teatro, diretto da Antonio Latella, si svolgerà a Venezia dal 22 luglio al 5 agosto: 14 gli artisti in programma, ognuno con più titoli in una sorta di breve “biografia artistica”; 28 gli spettacoli con 23 novità, di cui 2 in prima europea e 6 in prima assoluta.
“Il titolo Drammaturgie è volutamente lasciato al plurale – spiega il Direttore Antonio Latella – proprio perché crediamo che, nel ventunesimo secolo, sono tante e differenti le drammaturgie per la scena e, direi, per tutto ciò che concerne lo spettacolo dal vivo. Cercheremo quindi di evidenziare diversi tipi di drammaturgia e dell’essere drammaturghi, dal ruolo drammaturgico rivestito dalla Direzione Artistica al regista autore o autrice che mette in scena i propri testi; dal gemellaggio tra registi e autori che scrivono per loro e per gli attori di un ensemble all’artista-performer che traccia percorsi scrivendo per la scena; dalla scrittura propria del teatro visivo a quella del teatro che ha una matrice musicale o che è a stretto contatto con il teatro-danza. Citando per ultima, ma forse prima per importanza, la drammaturgia destinata al teatro-ragazzi, nata per creare un nuovo pubblico, crescerlo e proteggerlo dall’ovvietà, proponendo grande teatro non rivolto soltanto a un pubblico giovane o molto giovane”.
The 47th International Theatre Festival, directed by Antonio Latella, will run in Venice from 22 July to 5 August: 14 artists are featured in the programme, each with more than one production so as to present a sort of short “artistic biography”; there will be 28 shows with 23 new pieces, two of which are European premieres and 6 world premieres.
“The title Drammaturgie is deliberately used in the plural –explains Director Antonio Latella– precisely because we believe that in the twenty-first century, there are many and very different dramaturgies for the stage and, I might say, for everything that concerns live performances. We will therefore try to highlight various types of dramaturgy and of being dramaturgists, from the dramaturgical role played by the Artistic Director to the director-author who stages his/her own texts; from the partnership between the directors and the authors who write for them and for the actors of an ensemble, to the artist-performer who traces a direction with his/her stage writing; from the writing typical of visual theatre to that of theatre with a musical matrix or closely linked to theatre-dance. And last of all, but perhaps first in importance, dramaturgy for children’s theatre, born to create a new audience, to raise it and protect it from the obvious, offering great theatre that is not intended for younger audiences alone”.
BIENNALE COLLEGE ASAC
SCRIVERE IN RESIDENZA
È online il nuovo bando di Biennale College ASAC, Scrivere di teatro: le candidature da parte di giovani laureati italiani under 30 possono essere inviate fino a lunedì 1 luglio.
Si tratta del secondo dei cinque bandi che Biennale College – ASAC (Archivio Storico della Biennale) dedica, per il secondo anno consecutivo, al progetto Scrivere in residenza, coinvolgendo tutti i settori della Biennale – Danza, Musica, Teatro, Cinema, Arte.
I bandi prevedono la redazione di testi destinati a una pubblicazione della Biennale di Venezia e si svolgono sul campo: i candidati selezionati saranno invitati ad assistere ai programmi di ciascun festival e mostra sotto la guida del relativo tutor, facendo inoltre ricerca nelle sedi dell’Archivio Storico della Biennale di Venezia.
Al centro del progetto è l’attenzione alla qualità dello scrivere nelle discipline che la Biennale offre attraverso i suoi festival e le mostre, perché siano occasione di riflessione e di dialogo, ma anche di studio e ricerca grazie all’ASAC, l’Archivio Storico della Biennale, miniera di memorie che consentono di inscrivere l’osservazione sul presente in una prospettiva storica.
The Biennale College ASAC section has recently launched a project aimed at 15 Italian under-30 graduates. The second call for applications is now available, titled Scrivere di Teatro. The remaining calls will be announced in the next coming weeks, for the production of short critical studies to be included in a publication of the Biennale di Venezia.
